Fair Trade Women Cooperatives
Wakapou has established exclusive fair trade partnerships with African women cooperatives to harvest and produce premium quality shea almonds. These partnerships guarantee the direct sourcing of shea kernels as per our clients’ requirements.
Wakapou offers women cooperatives a price premium above the base fair trade price to fund health, education and infrastructure projects that improve the living and working conditions of their communities.

Wakapou collaborates with NGOs to strengthen the capacities of cooperatives by training women in production, management, marketing and consensus building.

Wakapou owns, manages and operates strategic assets at key points of the value chain:
Harvesting
We use specialized equipment to harvest ripe shea fruits from the ground, which greatly improves the performance of the fruit collectors and which enhances their protection against snake bites. We then transport shea fruits from fields to farm using our own fleet of light transportation vehicles.
Processing & Drying
We have installed new equipment with the capacity to process and dry several tons of almonds per day.
Warehousing
We own a warehouse which can store up to 1000 metric tons of agricultural products.
Wakapou provides the presence of an experienced management team on its production sites to support the work of women’s cooperatives in the areas of:
Logistics
We make sure that harvesting, processing, warehousing and shipping activities are planned and executed according to our customers’ delivery requirements.
Traceability
We guarantee our shea almonds are traceable all along the supply chain, from the parcel to the warehouse, allowing segregation of conventional and certified almonds.
Quality Control
Inspecting, sorting, and testing are performed rigorously at various stages of the value chain to provide only the best products to our clients.
